Fused Glass is an ancient technique originating around 2000 B.C. It involves melting designs of compatible glass together at a high temperature. The early Egyptians and Romans accomplished advanced fusing techniques. In or around 500 A.D. glass blowing became more popular, fusing had a 1400 year sleep, and has only been reawakened in the last few years to flourish as an art form once again. Barb Hicks of Saltspring Island has created hanging glass utilizing this technique.
